Description of Service
Tarotly is a tarot-reading application that uses artificial intelligence to generate interpretations of tarot card spreads. It is provided strictly for entertainment and personal self-reflection. Features include a daily card, a three-card spread, a dream spread, additional premium spreads (Celtic Cross, Compatibility, Relationship, Decision, Year Ahead, Shadow Work, Career, Spiritual Guidance), a dream journal, weekly recaps, history sync, and shareable moments.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Tarotly in the EU/EEA, or at least the digital consent age in your country (13 in the United States and several other jurisdictions). By using Tarotly, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. Where local law requires, a parent or legal guardian must enter into these Terms on behalf of a minor.
Important Disclaimer
Tarotly is for entertainment and self-reflection purposes only. AI-generated tarot readings are not professional advice of any kind. Tarotly is not a medical device, a healthcare service, a mental-health intervention, a financial advisor, a legal advisor, or a substitute for therapy or any other qualified professional service. Readings have no predictive or diagnostic value. Always consult qualified professionals for important life decisions.
Safety Notice
If you are in emotional distress or experiencing a mental-health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or a local crisis line immediately. In the EU, you can reach the European emergency number on 112. In the United States and Canada, you can call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Tarotly cannot help in an emergency.
User Responsibilities
By using Tarotly, you agree to:
- Use the App in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code of the App, except to the extent expressly permitted by mandatory law.
- Not use the App to generate harmful, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, or misleading content; not to generate content depicting minors; not to generate content depicting real persons in a way that could harm them.
- Not enter into the App information about another person (e.g. in compatibility readings) without that person’s permission, and not to enter special-category personal data (health, religion, sexual life, biometric data) about third parties.
- Not attempt to circumvent rate limits, abuse the API, extract or "jailbreak" the underlying AI model, or extract our system prompts.
- Not use the App to develop, train, or evaluate a competing AI model.
- Not resell, redistribute, sublicense, or make the App available to third parties beyond the personal-use licence granted below.
Intellectual Property
The App, the website, the Tarotly name, logos, deck artwork, copy, and software are owned by Tarotly or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. The traditional Rider–Waite tarot symbolism is in the public domain in most jurisdictions, but the specific illustrations, layouts, themes, and content of each Tarotly deck are original creative works of Tarotly. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Tarotly grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your own personal and non-commercial use.
Your Content
You retain all rights in the content you enter into the App (focus questions, journal notes, dream text, compatibility inputs). By using these features, you grant Tarotly a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, transmit, store and display your content solely to provide the service to you (e.g. to generate the reading, save the journal entry, sync between your devices, and produce the Weekly Recap if enabled). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the period reasonably needed for backup rotation. We never use your content to train AI models, our own or those of third parties.
AI-Generated Content
Interpretations provided by Tarotly are generated by a third-party large-language model (currently OpenAI GPT-4o) and are:
- Not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or reliable.
- Not a substitute for professional advice.
- Subject to the limitations and biases inherent in AI technology, including the possibility of inaccurate, offensive, or unexpected output.
- Generated in real time, may vary between readings even for the same draw, and may differ from interpretations produced by a human reader.
- Reportable inside the App when output appears offensive, unsafe, harmful, or otherwise inappropriate.
Subscription and Payments
Tarotly offers premium features through auto-renewing subscriptions (Monthly and Yearly). All purchases are processed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) under their respective terms. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from your device’s store settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Tarotly does not process payments directly and cannot independently issue refunds.
Auto-Renewing Subscriptions
- Plans available: Tarotly Premium Monthly (1-month term) and Tarotly Premium Yearly (12-month term). The current price for your region is shown in the App Store / Google Play purchase sheet before you confirm.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price for the same term unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase and on each renewal.
- You can manage or cancel auto-renewal at any time from your device’s subscription settings: iOS — Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions; Android — Google Play app → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- If you cancel during an active period, your Premium access continues until the end of that period; no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
- Free trials (if offered): any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- On iOS, your subscription is also governed by Apple’s Standard EULA: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.
EU Right of Withdrawal (Consumers)
If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital content or services without giving any reason. By starting to use Premium immediately after purchase, you expressly request that performance of the contract begin during the withdrawal period and you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once Tarotly has fully provided the digital service. Where withdrawal remains available, you can exercise it by sending a clear statement to support@tarotly4you.com. We recommend that you also request a refund from the App Store or Google Play, which actually processed your purchase.
Refunds
All refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. To request a refund, please use the App Store ("Report a Problem") or Google Play ("Refund request") procedures. We can help you with an issue or contact you about your account, but we cannot directly credit a refund for a store purchase.
Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable mandatory law. Subject to the foregoing, Tarotly’s total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for Premium in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 50, whichever is higher. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, for loss of profit, loss of goodwill, or loss of data resulting from your use of the App.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tarotly and its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, demand, loss, or damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the App, (c) your violation of any law, or (d) your violation of the rights of any third party, including by entering their personal data without permission.
Termination
You may stop using Tarotly at any time and may delete your account directly in the App (Profile → Delete Account) or by contacting support@tarotly4you.com. We may suspend or terminate your access without prior notice if you materially breach these Terms, if your conduct harms other users or third parties, or if we are required to do so by law. Otherwise, we may terminate our service generally with at least 30 days’ prior notice; if you have an active paid subscription, we will refund the unused, pro-rated portion. Sections on intellectual property, AI-generated content, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and dispute resolution survive termination.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The non-exclusive place of jurisdiction for any dispute is Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.
EU Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA, the choice of law above does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you have your habitual residence. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights, including the right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence. The European Commission also provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Dispute Resolution
We hope to resolve any disagreement informally. Before bringing a claim, please contact us at legal@tarotly4you.com and we will work with you in good faith to find a solution. Nothing in this clause limits your right to bring proceedings before a competent court or, if you are an EU consumer, to use the EU ODR platform mentioned above.
Force Majeure
Tarotly is not liable for any failure or delay in performance to the extent caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to outages or changes at our hosting, AI, or payment-processing providers, internet failures, government action, or natural disasters.
General
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce a right or provision will not be a waiver of that right or provision.
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any store EULA that applies to your purchase, are the entire agreement between you and Tarotly with respect to the App.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. Tarotly may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Notices: We may give notices through the App, by email to the address associated with your account, or by posting on tarotly4you.com.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If a change is material — for example, changes to subscription pricing or to liability and dispute provisions — we will notify you at least 30 days before the change takes effect via in-app banner or email. Your continued use of Tarotly after the change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not accept the modified Terms, you may stop using Tarotly and delete your account.
